Inspired by Chinese tradition. Chinese women often wear rings that they inherited from their ancestors. When the ring is too big, they do not ask a jeweler to modify it, but instead wind red silk thread around a part of the ring, then wear this red part inward toward the palm of the hand. It is a sign of respect to the ancestors.
